Key Responsibilities

As a veterinarian, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds and performing surgery.
  • Vaccinate animals to prevent and treat diseases.
  • Advise clients on feeding, housing, behaviour, breeding, hygiene and general animal care.
  • Conduct veterinary research related to animal nutrition, healthcare product development and disease prevention and control.
  • Provide veterinary services including obstetrics, dentistry and euthanasia.
  • Take responsibility for the overall operation of an animal hospital, veterinary clinic or mobile farm service.
  • Supervise animal health technologists and animal care workers.

Requirements

Experience

  • 3 years to less than 5 years of professional experience.
  • Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or similar animal healthcare setting.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine.
  • Strong knowledge of animal health and veterinary care.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat sick or injured animals.
  • Ability to provide a range of veterinary services.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Eligible for professional liability insurance.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to relocate.
  • Ability to work on-site at the veterinary clinic.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada or otherwise have the required authorization to work in Canada.
