Key Responsibilities
Healthcare Assistants and Home Carers will provide practical and personal support according to clients’ individual needs and care plans. Main duties include:
- Assisting clients with personal care, hygiene and daily living activities.
- Providing safe, compassionate and attentive overnight support.
- Helping clients with mobility, transfers, toileting and continence care.
- Monitoring clients’ health, comfort and general wellbeing.
- Reporting changes in clients’ conditions or any concerns to the appropriate team members.
- Providing companionship, reassurance and emotional support.
- Assisting with light housekeeping duties related to clients’ care.
- Following individual care plans and established care procedures.
- Maintaining accurate care records and documenting relevant observations.
- Respecting clients’ privacy, dignity, preferences and independence.
- Following appropriate health, safety and infection prevention procedures.
- Communicating effectively with the nurse-led management team and other relevant care professionals.
Requirements

Education and Qualifications
- QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support or an equivalent qualification.
- Relevant training in personal care and healthcare support.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Experience and Skills
- Previous experience in healthcare or home care.
- Ability to provide personal care respectfully and professionally.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of person-centred care and the importance of maintaining clients’ dignity.
- Ability to monitor clients’ wellbeing and report concerns appropriately.
- Good organisational skills and accurate record-keeping.
- Compassionate, trustworthy and dependable attitude.
- Ability to work independently while following care plans and instructions.

Driving and Transport Requirements
- A full driving licence is essential.
- Applicants must have access to their own car.
- Candidates must be able to travel to clients’ homes across the relevant service area in County Meath.
